Anyone interested in a $19K "stock" RD400? ::)
No serial # mentioned but it appears to be a Euro or Oceania version with the optional wire wheels. Has a KM/H speedo, '77 graphics, and a '78 seat (with an incorrect graphic applied).

"This museum-quality RD400 two-stroke is absolutely flawless, looks as if it just rolled off the assembly line."
"Was fully-restored to concours-spec, and could win it's class at any classic bike show."

according to the paint scheme, it isn't an euro model.
Australian or canadian bike perhaps as both countries swap MPH to KPH on the 70s and there is a KPH speedo.
BTW it is very curious that a bike which has just rolled off the assembly line scored 34.961 kilometers on the speedo unless it came by it own way to the owner and not by the shorter way!
At least they offer financing!
This bike was sold at the recent Mecum auction in Vegas last month for $11K. So this dealer on CL is apparently trying to flip it.
Info from the auction listing. Note that the numbers don't match -- it's a '76 frame with a '77 engine. I like how they list it as a 5-speed :o

I was watching the Mecum auction at a pub. Everything was WAY too high. $3000 bikes were going for $10k. It was just unbelievable. Some of the bikes were old and rare but many others were just everyday CL yawn. a CB 750 Four went for 14 grand! Not a Sandcast. Just a CB750. They made like 400,000 of them...
If you look at the top of the tank on this RD the paint was buffed thin until you can see through it. Someone took a pretty good example and detailed it and got $11k. This is how collector pricing gets inflated. This is nowhere near Concourse condition.
If you looked at this bike in person it is just a clean one. Not flawless, mint, and undriven. IMO...

Trying to flip something you bought a Mecum is very...um...ambitious.
He'd be lucky to get $5K for it.
It's now "Price on request". I like how they list a 21.7K mile bike as "MILES: 0"
Sales like this are fine with me.
Just keeps pushing prices higher.
Sucks if you don't already own them though, and want to start a collection.
This thing is STILL for sale! It's been 6 years! :dawg:
