Title: port for stock exhaust / intake?
Post by: rd400canuck on November 05, 2019, 01:15:15 PM
Hi guys,

I'm just curious about this... is there porting that would increase power for stock exhaust and intake and not diminish from bottom and mid rage power? I honestly doubt I will ever touch the ports on these stock RD400 jugs I had to find and buy but I am curious. I'm more interested in reliability and longevity so widening the exhaust or intake ports is a no no for me.

Thank you

Yes, there are different ways to tune a bike. Not all tuned RDs are high revving race bikes that are anemic down low. It sounds like you had one like that.

You can tune an RD with porting, intake, ignition, final drive, and/or exhaust that will have much better low/mids than stock.

Blue printing comes to mind with what you are talking about regarding porting while keeping the stock equipment. It has been done with good results. However, I'll let the tuners speak. I'm really just someone who's benefitted from their knowledge.
