Is third gear wot good for a plug chop?

				yes. what rpm?

				6.5 ish?

				aim for about 1k more

Has pitted needle jets, darker side has the worst pitted jet. I'll go give it what for again!
Thanks for the tip!

7.5k for ten seconds. Looks good to me, but I'm a newb. Any suggestions?

looks good but whats at the base is what counts. if it feels good id run it.  :toot:

Need to cut the plugs to see anything useful

jewlers loupe and a bright flashlight will do as well. i've done both but its a PIA to cut them. Hes right, but you can get around it.

Ive been told an otoscope (thing to look in your ear) works as well and its got a built in light

That's true but you can buy a cheap spark plug reader which is basically a small flashlight with a loup on the end.  Mine is falling apart but still works.  You need to look down inside where the insulator flattens out and meets the steel shell.
Those tips and electrodes look really cold.  Either the plugs are a too high a heat range (play safe and don't change that) or timing is "safe and or jetting is "safe".
But check the mixture ring first.

Teazer is the spark plug guru!

Plugs are 8's, timing is 1.8, I think the worn needle jets are a bit leaky. Mains are 30 over stock, so, yeah, I'm definitely playing it safe.
Thanks all.

hes right, its safe for sure. I always look for just the hint of a silver ring around the tip all the way. but, put some heat on them and ride it and see where it is.

Used an otoscope for years at the dragstrip, they're cheap and work a treat.

Reading plugs with todays fuel is not reliable. A indicator is all it is.
The important part is the insulator base= main jet
I use one of these to look into the plug.
