Title: loctite?
Post by: rd400canuck on December 04, 2019, 07:42:02 PM
Hi Guys,

Do any of the screws inside the engine casings get loctited?  The two screws that hold the bracket that holds the shift drum in place where really stuck in there and came loose with a snap.

Thanks again!

I would do it since it partially holds the cases together. I think it also retains a bearing or something, I might be mixing up another engine...

I replace with allen button heads and loctite all the little machine screws inside the sidecovers.

Sure would make a mess if one of those suckers backed out.

If you get Japanese spec Philips screwdrivers they dont strip as easily. Or you can also grind down a bit off the tip of a regular philips

class 10.9 carbon steel countersink screws, under clutch holding shift mechanism retainers in. there's 4 in the retainer plates, 2 per side. .
