Hey guys,
Went to look to see what sort of bulb my RD400c was running so I could order an LED replacement and i think the entire lens is the headlight, bulb included.
Can these things be taken apart so I can replace the bulb with an LED replacement?
Sealed beam, NO not easily. Will brake the glass undoing seal.
Their are Honda sealed beams that can work, they don't have the spring tabs for adjustment screw.
The size is what you search, then the wattage.

It is easier and cheaper to go with the after market bucket from Economy Cycle. It is an Emgo and then you have to do is order the bulb.
I was just about to pop in and say I found that on Economy...
I'll order one up.
Thanks guys!

Another interesting option ...
Honda VT 500 or 750 headlight assembly that he says fits 73-75 RD350.
Use the stock bucket and that assembly with the fanless bulb ... Worth checking out.
Honda 33120-MF5-751
But you are looking for a 400 so I don't know if this will work?

good info on the vfr headlight.
I think for the price I'll take my chances with the chrome bucket light assy from econo. I'm hoping it looks stock and is of decent quality.
Economy light is much brighter- better than stock.

Do you have the stock alternator, or an aftermarket PMA/CDI unit? If you have a Powerdynamo/Vape setup, you have plenty of power, even for a 80/100W H4 bulb.
I'll be running an HPI unit. 60 watts apparently so LED's front and back.
you can run a 35w halogen H4 as well. just an option. The lumen output is close to a 55w H4 :twocents:

That's what I have in my RD plenty bright enough.
Thanks for all the tips, guys.
Does it make sense to just go with low draw LED's so the coil and r/r arent taxed as much? Or am I thinking too much?
I see no downside in going with led. It's much brighter than the 35w I was uding with less draw.
true. you could go either way. just changing the taillight bulb and gauge lights will yield great results. the headlight bulb will help even more.
I'm not aware of a good led replacement for the rear that has white for the license plate and red for the rest.
I don't like the washed out red you get from White LEDs...
this style is the best functioning i have used, and they are DIRT cheap. they sit almost flush in the socket, have had them for a few years on my concours and work really well, no 'hot spot' or 'washed out' look. as cheap as they are they work well.

I was gonna go with these on the LC.

... and wan't there a post or thread on here somewhere with a recommendation for a good LED headlight bulb?
Can't find it now.
... except the lc doesnt use the same ac coil for lighting as the ignition...

I am currently using a Honda Shadow lens on my RD but have converted my stock one to be able to switch out bulbs.
