Do these indicate a bad seal on the right side?
I'd be happy with those if they were mine.
I know, right? If it were sucking trans oil through the seal, wouldn't the right side be all yucky?

It would not look that good. Are you are your timing was right and are you sure you had the proper clearances?
Timing was checked with a gauge , but no light, a lot before I ever rode it. I suppose it could have slipped or just been wrong, but why would it have ran so well at first? And wouldn't the plugs look dis-similar with bad timing on just one side?
The side that went out did, sometimes, seem to take a tiny bit longer to heat up, which doesn't make sense to me, considering the clearance. But whatdoiknow? The burnt piston has less clearance, according to latest measurements.
A little grayish tint. Could be the oil color also.
See my other post on piston to wall clearance.
Chuck
im not seeing the bright thin ring around the tip on the left plug , but they look good, no signs tuning caused the problem. im pretty sure it was a purely mechanical failure.
Thanks m! I'll check the numbers chuck posted and post results. :righteous:
