Anyone have any good tips for cleaning spokes?
My rims clean up real nice, but the spokes are "crusty" for lack of better terms. Not rusty, but rough. Would like to clean on the bike, but will remove if that makes it easier.
I like to use an old sock on my hand, then a combination of WD40 and light acid cleaner. There's good bit of knuckle busting and tediousness, but results are good. It helps to have the wheel in the air so you can turn it.
the only success that I have had is 0000 steel wool and WD40. After that i hit with a polishing wheel on a dremel or attached to a drill.
I use 1500 grit wet or dry sand paper with WD 40 and then polish with jewelers rouge on a strip of denim.
Thanks for the suggestions!

Ha! Hey someone else who uses an old sock over the hand for cleaning!. I've found they work great when turned inside out and then put your hand inside -- great for polishing and also for hand washing bikes and car mag wheels.
