Hi guys,

How important is it for me to measure the ring end gap on these OEM rings and matching OEM pistons? I cant find my damn feeler guage.

If you want the rings to seal, it's pretty important.
If you don't care if the rings seal, not so important

Ring end gap is definitely important! If the ring end gap is too tight you run the risk of breaking the rings and or seizing the motor.

Ya I dont know what I was expecting to hear lol...  something like "oem yamaha rings are always perfect".

Everything is coming apart now and so far on one side I got .013 but the cyls are cold. I suspect at room temp Id see .012 which is what the yamaha service manual states as the min.

Kind of silly to come this far and spend all this money to do everything right then skip checking something as simple as ring end gap.

If following the proper piston to wall clearances the ring gaps are hardly an issue.
If you are using high quality parts like OEM, Pro-X, Vertex, Wiseco, Wossner, these are all good brands. Vintco is a new comer so can't say yet about them.
I don't even think I had any issues with the HVC kits either.

.013 is way fine!

Street motors over .021-.022 will work, just will need replacement much sooner.
