Title: So, my kick starter won't spring back... Simple?
Post by: oldguyRD1964 on March 22, 2020, 08:35:01 PM
Hello as my world turns I put the right side of my bike back together a couple weeks ago. I am leaving town tomorrow and wanted to get the head the bike sealed so nothing will get into the motor.

I was adding a little oil in the cylinders and trans and I was using the kick starter and it dawned on me that the lever wasn't springing back like normal. Obviously I didn't follow my pictures but is there a little trick, or something anyone can mention?

Thanks I won't be back for a month or two due to the Virus, but I'd love to put this bike to bed... Appreciate your help as usual....

If the side cover dowels are missing that can bind the shaft up.
There should thrust flat washer on the kickstarter assembly that goes against the aluminum case, then the the kicker lug against the stop in the cases, then wind the spring and clip to spring post.
There should be another washer, I believe is a 1mm shim on the shaft to shim proper end play from the circlip to the cover.
So recheck this order of assembly.
