I am sending my RH Throttle Housing out to chrome.
What to do about the left? I've been into one once and don't really want to pull mine far enough apart to get chromed - the guts are much too intricate and delicate.

Anyone had luck with polishing? Replacing with the generic Chinese switches in black? I do see a brand new NOS unit available for about $75 that retains most of the original gloss polish and that's very tempting. Mine is super tarnished. When I put the throttle side in the cleaner, it did nothing for the shine.
Peter at Guagerepair.com (yes, that is how he spells it) will restore it for you if you want.
They actually come apart really easy.
I completely disassembled both switchgear on my LC. Painted the housings with new decals from Yambits etc
After cleaning and lubing the switches they look and work like brand new for the cost of the stickers and a couple cans of spray paint
^^^^ Right! Just take pictures during the disassembly. And JIS screwdrivers are a Huge help removing the small switch button screws and internal screws. I have this set:

The 1970 switches have a series of tiny parts in them that make up the contacts. - ie little tiny rolling bits etc. Later switches are much simpler, I've been into both.
I've solved the immediate problem, I bought a NOS switch for cheap money. FYI that gauge guy isn't doing switches any more according to his site...
