my mate wanted his dt125 dated. he's had it years, bought it for £10 from an old train works and never bothered to check up the registration to register it. now he's refurbing it and wants to know what year it is, so he can order the decals for it. i looked on here: https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en/yamaha-parts/yamaha-model-prefix-motorcycles-1970-1994 annd guess what? it's not on there. i reckon it's 74 or 75, but if anybody knows for sure please let me know. frame number is 1G0 - 311*** engine number begins *100* - 311***. i'm at a loss ;D
cheers, gil.
The only information I can find is 1G0 is a prefix used for 76 to79UK DT125E models. But the 79 model ends at VIN 1G0-130000 so maybe newer than a 79?
It's not something we got in the US. No "1G0-" in any of my books. All our DT125s from '74-'79 were "444-", "560-", "2A6-", "2N4-"
thanks for that. i've got a clear photo of it and it's definitely 1GO. i thought it was about 74/75 and it's a dt125 with electric start - similar to suzuki gt185 - and normal points etc ignition, so it's pre cdi ;D
cheers, gil.
p.s. drum brakes front and rear, if that helps?
p.p.s. just found out it's a 5 speed box, which should make it 1974 8)
well after emailing the yamaha parts website above [somewhere], which said that if my frame number wasn't on their list, just ask them and they will date it. so i got an email back with 'I am sorry but we are not able to identify your vehicle at Yamaha.' hmm. it's definitely a dt125. the engine and frame number match. it's definitely a 5 speed box and as far as i know the dt125 changed to a 6 speed in 1975. so i'm going for a 74 model for this bike and they are the decals we'll be fitting ;D
cheers, gil.
