Title: Squish band angle RD350, oem vs Mitaka vs Wossner, etc. pistons
Post by: Dvsrd on March 07, 2019, 01:54:08 PM
My RD350A is still on the original 64.00 bore, with original Dykes ring type pistons.
I just bought a pair of 250C heads, that I am in the process of converting for my 350.
My plan is to stay with the original pistons for now, and rebore when needed. The question is then how much these pistons vary in dome angle, before I fire up my lathe.
Anyone knows the dome angle on Mitaka/ Wøssner/ Wiseco, etc?

Set your tool post angle to 14* degrees on the lathe and will work on all Banshee pistons we use in the RD's.
The stock RD350 had a horrible amount of squish it didn't matter much.
Street bikes are fine at .038-.042.  .035-.036 if you dowel pin them on center.

Thanks Chuck!
It seems you prefer using Banshee pistons on AC RD's?

In any case, I am looking at reboring a spare set of cylinders, and maybe having some light porting work done at the same time, mainly cleanup of transfer and boost ports. Could you PM or email me with a cost estimate?
