did this for the R5. i don't always run the rack but i hated pulling the tail light wiring to do so. so, i modified by cutting about 50mm out from in between the rail and plugging the holes. then slotted the shock bolt mount hole. Now i can just undo the j-hooks, loosen the 2 shock nuts, slide the rack back, then up, forward and out. then tighten the shock nuts back up and done. yes the r5 is a tiny bit crusty when zoomed in. :dawg:

So the back side under the tail light bracket just rests on the grab rail?
They are clamped to the rail with 2 j-hooks, those are still there. (see 4th pic) i just took out a section of it between the mounting points and added caps to close the tube. Unless you are putting some ridiculous amount of weight on there, its fine.
