Title: Left side spark plug dies rd400
Post by: rd400greenhorn on September 13, 2020, 02:10:57 AM
Allright, anyone with ideas on this issue.?

I have proberly gone 50km so far on the rd400, and changed the left side sparkplug twice.
It just gives up, yesterday it started to 4 stroke and -'shot' out of the left exhaust, i thought might ss well try.
Took the spark plug out ( Black,) and it worked again.  :umm: :help:

Have you had the brass balls out of the carbs, to clean the fixed air jets? I had the exact same thing on my 250E. Initially I got a replacement carb. body off a mate and it cured the problem completely.

Check and clean your carb. I kept on fouling plugs but was able to figure out it was carb related.

On my water cooled motor with TM34'sI changed the stock needle jets to a leaner Q0 and I was still so rich in midrange that I had to jet right down to get it to stop spluttering and get onto the pipe that I would be lean at WOT. Even with the needle at #1 clip.
Changed to P8 needle jets and its better, but still a bit rich.

Are your carbs synced?

Not sure what does it in the carb,
Incorrect float level or dirt in float valve. Will cause rich condition. Please get the basic  settings correct, incl. all jetting info.
