Title: value of used pair of carbs for RD400
Post by: Still biking on February 02, 2021, 05:38:42 PM
How much should I expect to pay for a rebuildable set of carbs, OEM Mikuni, for a Yamaha RD400?  I see prices all over the place on Ebay.

Id say that purchase price and rebuild parts cost should be less than around 75% of cost to buy new.
There have been a few sets sold recently that I have seen for less than $100.

I bought a set for $40 Canadian with a complete Dave F mod with air jets already done. PO had the float bowls switched so he thought they were garbage.

A few years ago you could pick up a nice set of stock RD400 VM28s for $50-$75. Recently I've seen them selling in the $90-140 range.
And I've seen listings asking way more than that. As seems to be more and more common these days, there are sellers who think their crappy incomplete junk is like gold and they ask ridiculous prices. Whether they get it is another story.

Like Rodney said, if you can find a nice set for under $100 you have done well, buy 'em.
