Looking for a good Koso or Trail Tech type gauge assembly for 6 volt system that monitors; speed, RPM, and temp; as well as indicators for neutral and blinkers.
Haven't been able to find one. Does anyone know of one? This would go into my DT100A or YSR50/80, or possibly both.
i used something similar to this on and old kawi i had years ago.

On magneto bikes I run the tach off two 9volt batteries
Thanks!!!!
'm'; I'm leaning towards your solution as I want to run an all in one gauge pack. I was going to look into step up converters if no one had a 6V solution, you handed me a viable option
'bitzz'; I'm guessing you run the 9V batteries in parallel?
I have seen 12 volt reg/rect for bikes with 6V oem systems. Like XT500 and XT250 from the 70s and early 80s. I guess the original flywheel and lighting/ charging coils output a lot more than 6 V at higher revs if unregulated
Check out item #50557 at www.kedo.de
It depends on the gauge
Buddy has a Koso thing that runs off one 9v battery no problem. The problem being buddy is an idiot and forgets to change batteries. Two batteries gets through a three day weekend no problem.
I have Autometer tachs that LIKE 18 volts, the needle is servo motor and seems to faster and more accurate at 18v.
And I want to thank you again for that motor.
Thanks everyone.
@Dvsrd: I recall reading about that somewhere...if can remember where I'll be able to figure out if the YSR can support a 12V R/R. I think it was an article about adding lighting windings to a Z50R ignition.
@Bitzz: That's viable option also, but this build is for my wife so I think I need to err on the side of caution. I am leaning towards a KOSO meter though, the style fits the idea in my head better. I'm glad the engine went to a good home, that's what my friend wants. This stuff pretty much represents his entire adult life. He and a friend opened the shop when he was 25. Post or send some pics please so I can share with him.
If anyone is interested I've attached a pdf of the article I mentioned. It may or may not apply to Yamahas but it is a good read non-the-less. I was going to give the link to the page but it's no longer up. The original webpage is referenced. Hopefully that enables me to share the information.
UPDATE: Trail Tech gauges are 6V compatible. Anyone have input on them?
THAT is good to know, had no idea. I have a trailtech speedometer that is AC powered that i like a whole lot, works like a champ. which one are you looking at? Mines an 'endurance' i think.
The 'Vapor' fits all of my needs and all of their computer kits come with handlebar mounting hardware that will fit 7/8" and 1 1/8" bars.
Koso makes a analog to digital adapter. I wonder if it will work with the Trail Tech. I'm guessing it will, though the diameter of the bolt spacing may need to be adjusted.

I belive that contraption is intended to screw into a stock speedo drive, where the cable normally goes. Why anyone would want that is a mystery.
Bolt circkle spacing or diameter does not matter either. The only thing to program into a digital speedo is wheel circumference and number of pulses per revolution. (,i.e. 1 magnet, 2 magnets, etc. Or 5 disc Bolts, 6 disc Bolts, etc)
