I believe they were for JDM, EU, Oceania, RSA, and maybe others. And apparently CAN if the one that Rodney had wasn't gray market.

I owned one when I lived is South Africa a long long time ago.
You could only get a bike licence for a 50cc at 16 years old. You had to be 18 get a car licence. So there were a lot of these bike around. Also Gammas, kawi AR 50's, Honda MBX and MB 50's
I rode two-up all over Corfu on a DT250LC with the same motor back in the late 90's.
Cute and fun for a teenager, but slow AF for a grown-ass man.
