Sabbath, Zeppelin, Chris Stapleton, Jamey Johnson, Johnny Winter, Waylon, Hank jr, Otis Rush, Elmore James etc. there's a million more.
You probably ever heard of most of them. Amon Amarth Children of Bodom, The Hu, Tyr. And Iron Maiden when I'm in an oldies mood.
Early ZZ Top, SRV...
RUSH!!!!
Lately, I've been drawn to 70's lounge music.

I can't believe Maiden was excluded from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, again, but Carole King and the F'n Go-Go's are in? Unbelievable...

RUSH!!!!
I got into Rush when Hemispheres came out. Great instrumental album. :metal:
AFA B.O.C.... "I love the night"...Buck Dharma's Devil's Nail (BD Archive) guitar sounds way better / Buck's boogie & Shooting Shark April 11, 1997 (just listened to the live version on youtube, kickass) . Buck has a smooth voice. Saw them in Hollywood w/ Judy QLG...awesome...think 2016 it was.
Eric Johnson Ah Via Musicom.
Current youtube band faves: Unleash the Archers, Jinjer, Ghost
Judas Priest's Stained Class, Sin After Sin, and British Steel always does it for me. After that, not so much, but I stopped listening to them after Point of Entry. They seem to have done alright without me. :dawg: Very dramatic and almost cheesy, but who else can sing like Halford did? And the rest of them did their things like no one before them, as far as I recall. :metal:
JP is an all time favorite of mine, can't leave out defenders of the faith or sad wings of destiny, such amazing albums. Mercyful fate, Iron maiden, motorhead, testament. Pretty much all the greatest metal. I also get down pretty hard on late '90s and early '00s hip hop/gangster rap. Some of my best wrenching moments have been to heavy metal. It just makes sense when your working on bikes!
i've only ever walked out of 2 concerts, both mid to late 70's. one was curved air - rubbish - and the other was judas priest - nah, didn't get on with them at all. depending what mood i'm in i go from fleetwood mac when i'm mellow to led zep when i'm on it :celebrate: saw some great bands in the 70's from across the pond, including pat travers, who came on as support for the groundhogs and got 7 encores
cheers, gil.
I feel lucky that my 17 year old son likes "my" music, and and he's always trying to help me expand my horizons. Currently digesting Mastodon.

Oh wow! I love Curved Air and Judas Priest! Didn't get into any prog rock with an electric violin, eh?
i've always been a rocker from day one, or perhaps a bit later  64 and 65 i loved the beatles [and before] but by 66 i'd gone right off them, leading up to cream, the yardbirds, atomic rooster, deep purple and so on. saved enough money out of my weekly pittance to buy the first sabbath album and i was blown away by it. wish i could remember some of the bands from across the water that i went to see mid to late 70's, unfortunately the odd few like pat travers, jeff healey and johnny thunders and the heartbreakers are about all i remember
cheers, gil.
p.s. electric violin? hmm, did like jimmy lea playing it on one of slade's singles
