Title: burned stator
Post by: rodneya on August 13, 2021, 12:29:59 PM
I have a banshee stator that has had the ground floated for DC hooked up to my battery in my bike. It stopped charging recently, and the epoxy looks a bit cooked.
Looking for possible causes so that it doesn't happen again. these things are expensive.

Only recent change was adding a fan about a month ago wired in with a relay and switch.
When it happened I thought the battery had died (its about 6 years old), but it may have just been the battery was drawn right down while riding.

id think a 6 yr old battery was causing the stator to overwork.   :twocents:

Could be. The added draw from the fan was possibly the final straw.
