Title: DS7,R5,RD Engine paint
Post by: soonerbillz on August 28, 2021, 08:18:02 PM
So what is correct for the various models as far as engine paint?
I've read all the posts but it seems willy nilly and subjective to whim..
Whats the real deal?

Im not sure what the correct paint is, but I have tried a few different rattle cans including the really pricey 2k stuff and they all wear and scratch pretty fast.
I just sprayed an engine with 2k hot rod satin black over epoxy primer with a spray gun. Looks good and the little bit of overspray I got on a gasket surface was difficult to remove so we will see how it holds up.

I use PJ1 on everything. I bake it at 200 as well.

This is what I use on frames and other abused parts.

They have it in a satin but have not used it. I never baked any of this.
I will say it's pretty tough stuff but takes quite a while to completely cure, dry.  Its been a good product on my tractor ,blades and tillers.
