Title: Elec start for old guys with crappy knees
Post by: rodneya on February 17, 2022, 01:02:52 PM
Its made for a Banshee, but pretty sure this could be made to fit an RZ as well.

no reason it wouldn't bolt right on.

nice piece of engineering.. if it works.

if your leg is too weak to kick over an rz, maybe you need to ride a bicycle. mine starts on first kick anyway. I'm sure that's for the bruthas out in L.A. who spend tons off money on their " street banshees"  :afro: :afro:

My buddy has MX knees and an aftermarket hip, and I think he'd love one of these for his RD400.

IF you ran a larger taper crank it would fit an rdcase with little work, but banshee style cdi would be needed.  thats 1600 + 500(cdi rough estimate) and modified crank , so another 700 ish, thats roughly 3k just in parts. IF you could fit it to an mzb/vape cdi, still in at 2500 in parts.

i have had 3 knee surgeries a hip& right shoulder replacement and back surgery . 61 years old and combat wounded and i still kick mine !!    if you wanna ride bad enough, you will!!    i want to apologize to you 85rz about your friend. i understand we all love our bikes and friends. we also all have different disablities, some seen , some unseen. i understand the starter would make his riding experience more pleasant and frequent. hope it can extend his riding years by making it more accessible !!! :patriot: :patriot:

Thank you for your service, 747drvr  :patriot: you have my gratitude and admiration, sir!
I wonder if that electric leg could be reconfigured to fit an RD more easily than the RD could be reconfigured to fit it. The 200 is an elegant solution, too.

How does that turn the motor, a whole new charging and ignition system, or just a new rotor?

A compression release could probably be installed for a fraction of the price.

looks like they are doing one for an lt500. i could use one for the lt250r motor in the grom but not shelling out 1500 for it.
