Something you don't see everyday. That speed is pretty impressive

1986 Suzuki RG500 GAMMA
Here's a very special and rare opportunity to own a little history for two-stroke enthusiasts. This RG500 Gamma is the current SCTA World Record holder in the 500cc production class set in 1998 at Bonneville. The chances are pretty thin that any production bike in the foreseeable future will beat this record of 148.242 mph (with a one way run of 161 mph!). The record was set by Shane Kenneally and we have the many notes, receipts and pictures from the event and the work leading up to it.
We are selling this Gamma for the estate of a serious RG/RZ collector so my information is limited to the documents provided by the family but there is plenty of verifying paperwork. We have the original SCTA log book, time stamped run receipts, jetting notes and much more (see pics). The odometer reads 21,851 km (13,577 miles).
As for the bike itself, it is Pennsylvania titled and very stock save for heat wrapping on the chambers and a steering damper. We do not have the bike running. The family was not willing to invest in getting the bike started since it is most likely a collector's piece and not a daily rider. We did have our tech go over the bike and determined that because of prolonged storage the throttle is sticky and stiff as are the brakes and calipers. The motor turns over slowly when kicked indicating gummed up rings or cylinder rust. If you want to ride it, it will need a complete refresh. Again, considering the value and rarity, this is not a track day bike.
Shane Kenneally not only holds the 500cc Production record, but also the 350cc Production record with a Yamaha RZ350 :cheerleader:
