So are there different years of these that are more desirable?
Or the S1 versus the H2.
I am always on the lookout for stuff, but want to be knowledgeable on them also

When I bought my first Kawi (G3SS 90) in 2017, I had a line on two H1 500's for around 3k and an hours drive. Both in serious need of help, basically only good for parts, maybe to make one good runner from. They sat on CL for like 3 months before they disappeared, presumably sold. I was interested but knew the old mantra: "Triples are triple the money to rebuild." So, being broke and desperate I passed. Then the classic 30-feet away pictures of my current RD surfaced on CL and was $700. I said SOLD! lol My buddy said, it needs a crank and said SELL it again! Well... I didn't.
A year or two later pre-pandemic, the H1 500, and the H2 750 took on a serious interest to buyers. Any bike that was running, and in decent shape was pulling 7-10k. But, show bikes like Barnie above were netting 15-20k. Mostly H2's while H1's lagged a few thousand behind.
Post-pandemic, and here we go, insanity levels.
Just like the RZ, these bikes are now a quagmire.
I've got a a triple frame and some bits..
Yeah.. I'm thinking another long term project. Stupid me.
if so i would strongly recommend joining the kawi page.
S1 VS H2 is lightyears apart. Ive owned every kaw triple model at some point, and relatively recently. (except an S1 but its the same as an S2). As far as investment opportunities i don't have any suggestions except it just drives the prices up and is frowned on amongst certian circles. why are the so expensive? nostalgia. that's honestly the only reason. :twocents:
Are the 750's the only high priced ones?
What about the S1 250's?
yep Nostalgia
Just like these.
Some parts of the world they will go for good money. Here? not so much from what ive seen unless its a super nice museum quality one.
I have to wonder if they're actually going for the money you see these bidding auctions close on as "sold". I think a person or two put this suspicion in me as to whether or not the bidder's actually pay up. I know one thing I love to window shop for them among other 2 strokes but lately I find myself wondering where to true value of anything bikes lies. I wonder who's buying them. I know I can afford one but it kills me to have all that money tied up into something that your afraid to use it...but what I was going to really go on to say is I am grateful for my RD250. I think it's a better more affordable bike. With plenty of they don't make em like that anymore going on and at the time I believe it was the best in class. Most of all I'm grateful to find a bike with a supportive aftermarket community and people here who support it and guided me to understanding this bike better and making it a better running bike. Hey it's a bike that I own outright that seems to draw alot of attention to older more distinguished men that recall these bikes from their youth.
I do seriously wonder about the collectability of bikes right now with escalating fuel costs among inflation and what with all is going on in the world affecting our cost of living. I personally want and lust for bikes like most all of us but feel pretty gun shy to purchase bikes at the moment however there are a few out there that I just want and feel like I must have.
