Title: HPI led lights
Post by: gargantua350 on April 04, 2022, 10:11:34 AM
Hello there:

I plan to run just AC volts with the HPI and could it be done without floating the ground on the stator?

I am going to use the trail tech AC regulator to provide the correct volts to the LED lights (head lights and tail lights).

If I need to float the ground, do I attach the negative side of the leds to the brown wire of the regulator(lifted ground side)?

thx

you can go single but it will pulse more. I know, i tried. I floated the ground and ran as you said, one to the yellow one to the brown on the regulator. then, one of those went to the headlight & brake sw power, the other went to the taillight. Neither went to ground and its been working for 5 years now that way.  :twocents:

Thanks Marc...

So follow this diagram correct?  Looking at the diagram, the arrow indicates where I would float the ground and then connect to the AC regulator correct?

Another question.  The neutral switch is ground activated and if I use the switch in the standard configuration; it would ground out one side of regulator(as the motor is grounded.  Is there a way to do this or just don't run a neutral indicator?

thx

yes on the wiring. and yes, the 'n' switch on the motor switches the ground, so you would run a hot lead to the led 'n' light.
