Title: RD350 B Lights
Post by: Milan on June 08, 2022, 10:21:04 AM
I have a 1975 RD350 B.

Are the headlite, & clock lights supposed to come on with the key On, & light switch On?

Or does the bike have to be running for those to work?

My 75 RD250B = headlight & lights come on with key
79 USA Daytona = headlight comes on with engine running only.

On the RD400 that's on purpose to save the battery.

Thanks,

I downloaded & printed out the wiring diagram.
So I will now set off to troubleshoot.

Thanks all

Note:
My Canadian Daytona = Headlite comes on with switch

The RD400E & F (US) have a lighting relay that is off until the engine is turned over, energizing the circuit.
The RD250, RD350, RD400C & D (and others) do not have this relay so the lights turn on with the main switch (key). Attached is an image for reference that I provided here a while back.

The RD400F & G (CAN) do not have the lighting relay because they have a completely different electrical system and CDI.

Got this sorted out.

Dark brown & light brown wires swapped.
And burned out bulbs.

Headlight voltage low.
took apart Hi / Low switch, cleaned contacts
Proper voltage now seen.
All working
