Title: RD350 Condenser replacement NOS vs NEW
Post by: Pravin on June 12, 2022, 05:09:00 AM
Hi all ,

Just wanted to check what is the best thing to do when it comes in to replacing old condenser.
Wien pitting is increasing in points surface , due to arching ..
Will the original NOS stock ..say 20 30 years old will perform better over new ones of same value ?

Or its good practice to use new ones which are recently manufactured?

Cheers,
Pravin

A good question. I think many lousy repops were produced and sold through the 1990-2020 period after new vehicles all switched to electronic ignition and the OEM suppliers stopped producing. But, probably the biggest failure is in the owners assuring good connections from the condenser bodies to ground.
