Title: Comments from the Wife
Post by: Milan on July 19, 2022, 09:40:36 AM
I took the Daytona out last Sunday around the neighborhood.
Coming back to house my wife came from work and followed me.

I got home & put the bike in the garage.

She got out of the car & told me there was something wrong with the bike.
I said Why?

She replied:

" Its passing too much gas "

I started laughing and said what do you mean?

"  There is a lot of gas coming out of the pipes "

So I had to tell her that's normal for these bikes.
( She meant smoke, as she is from South America )
That's why EPA outlawed them.

" Then how come you ride them now illegally "

Told here for that age of bike EPA is exempt.
And she went on her way, maybe understanding.

It took my ex-wife a couple of years to tell me that she thought my RZ was worn out because it smoked when I left for work. She couldn't understand why a mechanic would ride something that burned so much oil and not just fix it!

2 stroke bikes weren't outlawed, per say they just needed to meet current emissions standards at the time and no one was really willing to do it. Bimota Vdue was legal for sale in the us in the late 90s. just fyi.

Angie was well aware of the 2 stroke bike thing long before we were married. she only ever questions strong fuel smells in the garage and open fires if/when they occur  :dawg: . even then shes like 'eh'. lol.

why wife owned a 2 stroke when I met her. We were 18 and it was a YZ80, but still, she liked my RD350.

I've told this story before ...

First time I dragged my wife (to be) home from the bar, we pulled into my garage and she identified my RD by sight.

"Oh! you have an RD!  Those are my favorite!"

We've been together for 25years since.
