So, I have a HF 26" box that isn't super light.
How do you guys move these boxes? I figured I'd move it empty, taking the drawers out, and packing the tools somewhere else. But, now that my truck is gone. I guess I can rent a pickup and a trailer. I hate not having a car. Haha. I've never not had a truck and I don't like it. :whatever:
Last time I had to move my tool cabinets I rented a small Uhaul box truck that had a pull-out loading ramp. Even though I loaded my garage stuff alone I was able to get all the heavy the things in the truck including the tool chests and a V8 long block in an engine cradle with wheels. Since the ramp provided a smooth transition into the cargo area things could be rolled up the ramp and right in.
If you have a smaller tool chest I suppose you could unload it and put each drawer's contents in a separate bag/box to keep it organized and then load everything into a pickup. It would be less costly.
Another tip for loading heavy things (tool chests, furniture, etc.) into a pickup. Get on old piece of carpet and hang it over the edge of the bed opening. Move the object up against the edge of the bed and tip it against the carpet. Then lift and slide the object into the truck bed on its side. Makes loading things a piece of cake. :twocents:
Probably going the pickup route. I can remove the drawers and go to town with the heave-hoes.
