Title: HPI floating ground
Post by: gargantua350 on July 28, 2022, 10:03:35 AM
Hello,

Just a quick question/check.  I have floated the ground on the HPI but when I measure continuity to ground it shows low ohms.  Is it measuring the ohms of the coil to ground?

thx

is the other side hooked up thru the regulator? if so, its reading it thru there. to do an accurate test, both side of the lighting/charging system need to be disconnected from the harness. also.. if its a digital meter, make sure its not in 'auto' range.

Sorry forgot to reply to this as it may help others...The low ohms was coming from the trail tech AC regulator.  I mounted it on the battery box and the housing of the regulator shorted to ground to the frame.  I used a nylon block and zip tied it down.  All is good now no continuity to the frame.
