Title: Rd250 Drum or Disc?
Post by: Halmic on May 04, 2019, 11:07:26 PM
So, I picked up what's titled as a 73 rd250, and it has a drum front end.  Did all 250s have drums, and if not when did they switch to disc?
Thanks

The very early ones had a drum in '73. I believe they switched to disc mid year. You got the one in Appleton I'm guessing?

It was listed as a 73 but had a 75 tank on it with a front drum.

73s and 74s were drum. 75 was disc.

As posted above, the only US 250 to get a disc was the '75. If you want to know the exact year you can check the frame number and engine number against this:
1973     352-100101 ~ 352-108117
1974     352-200101 ~ 352-211280
1975     352-300101 ~ 352-311250

Colors are (for US models):
1973  Butterfly Blue
1974  Amber Brown
1975  Clean White

I corrected a typo and an incorrect color in my previous post. Sorry about that.
