Title: Shoei helmet sale
Post by: SoCal250 on December 16, 2022, 03:26:58 PM
It is very rare that Shoei helmets are ever discounted or put on sale. However now is one of those rare times. You can get 15% off, and I believe it runs through Wed Dec 21.

I got an RF1400 this year.  I went into Cycle Gear and tried on many many helmets, pretty much anything they had under $700ish.
I had an RF1100 for years.
Of all the brands I tried, Shoei just felt best.  Recommend...

My RF-1200 is getting pretty tired so I have been wanting an RF-1400. With the sale now I can finally git 'er done.

I don't know about Shoei, but for Arai helmets (which are my go to and long time favorite), you can buy them direct from Japan and save a lot of money.

Direct from Japan it was $530 total. The base price of the helmet in the US was $910 and you'd get free shipping, versus $440 from Japan plus shipping.

It might be worth exploring for Shoei since they are Japanese too.

Interesting idea on going direct to Japan.

I have been a long time Shoei supporter with at least 4 of the RF models.  One thing I have learned recently is AGV has a very similar shape and fit to Shoei as my last few newer helmets have been AGV.

Also Im a helmet nerd :celebrate:

Interesting. A couple years ago I tried on some AGV helmets thinking I may want to switch over, but didn't think they fit quite right. I may have to revisit. One cool thing about the AGVs is that they come is smaller size increments in the middle of the range (i.e., SM, MS, ML, L).

The K6 in particular I highly recommend for a good mid range helmet.  It fits very similar to my RF1200 at least for me, I have a small round shape head and it is the best the SM/MD is the best fit I have found plus it is a good amount lighter.

How does the K6 compare with the RF-1200 on quietness?

I would say overall the RF-1200 is a little quieter but not by much, the K6 has a latch feature on the visor that when closed makes it pretty comparable, with it open it increases the noise but it great for ventilation.  The weight is the biggest difference to me I was very surprised by how light it is in comparison, I guess the carbon based shell is the difference but its something I notice in my neck.  On the track I still go with the Shoei but I like the AGV for every day riding.

I won't have any input on the K6 unless I decide to get one at a later date. The helmet I ordered was the RF-1400.

While watching YouTube yesterday I came across a best helmets video from RevZilla. They chose the AGV K6 as their Best Full-Face model.
