Starting to question the provenance and originality of this bike. That tach sure looks like it belongs on an XS650 not an RD400. The correct OEM RD400 tach has a 8500 redline. :whatever:
You hit it spot on, it should be 8,500 Makes everything in the ad suspect... ESPECIALLY the mileage.
The chain lube on the rear wheel and looking at some of the nuts and bolts says BS.... I asked seller without specifically saying why some of the parts other than the tires are not original.
carb vents to bowls aren't hooked up either. and whats w the aftermarket shocks? one reservoir facing fwd, the other backwards? either this guys full of shit, or he's an ignorant flipper that got taken.
THIS is what happens when they become nothing more than commodities to more and more people. :taz:
Amen Brother... The clutch lever shows more than 152 miles of use... someone's acidic hand has etched the anodizing off of it.

That's from greasing too many palms and owing a bookie.
This is why I stick to the beat up cheap ones, mostly......................D
like new, showroom condition is almost impossible. take it to a motorcycle show and they would pick it apart. like the other member said the rear shocks are hideous. they are the first thing i see when i look at the bike. they stick out and take away from the rest of the bike.
same reason my old cars are 4 doors. the coupes have been run ragged, hacked, wrecked, rebuilt with duct tape and bailing wire, and over priced on resale.
I reached out to him, he had no clue. Owns some collector cars, he pulled it off E-bay until he can verify some of what he was told or thought the condition is. He seemed on the up and up.
