Easiest would probably be RZ350 forks. 35 vs 34mm tubes and you gain dual disc front brakes. Really, the sky's the limit on fork swaps. Just make sure the overall length is close or you'll have a bunch of tube above your upper triple. I saw a fork swap chart somewhere on the internet (DTT?) that had all the dimensions but can't recall where I saw it.

FZR400/600 forks are 38mm, fairly lightweight, Racetech valves and springs are  available. Popular upgrade for XS650s

huge pain in the ass IMHO, and ive done a few. stock forks work well, use a mikes xs gold valve in stock forks, works fantastic and you dont have to figure out wheel spacing/gauge mounting/neck bearings.

Early R6 would be the logical choice, but then you have to figure out all the stuff Mark mentioned.

Only really makes sense if you're doing the rearend and wheels too.

I kept stock forks with Race Tech emulators and springs. It's the way to go imho.

I have a question even though I've already gone down this road .... will rd400 wheels bolt  straight onto the rz fork? still use one brake ?

^ Nope.

And if you get the emulators for the stock forks (which work great) you need to also purchase 'straight wound' fork springs.  Emulators do not work with 'progressive wound' springs.

Mark had the easy answer- stock forks, look up the part # stock on TZ250 and TZ350's back in the day.
Some differences damper, spring same tubes.

I have done kX 300 Upside down front end for RD, FJ600 duel disk, R6 upside down-pain in the ass.

Upside down forks: MY THOUGHTS
#1 loose turning range= slow speeds
#2 To rigid for Front of frame
#3 Much heaver front to heavy= flop
#4 TO stiff for short wheel base bike.

I have done them-as many on this forum have done. +/- stock is cheaper and works great when tuned.
