Title: to oil or no oil
Post by: kramdua on February 14, 2023, 05:18:01 PM
my rd350 has a y-boot with the tall k&n cone filter. my question is are we supposed to clean then oil the filters or i saw on the k&n sight they have a free flow filter that isn't oiled.
thanks,

I generally do not put oil on air filters on 2 strokes.

on a K&N, if its closer to black then red, yes, clean it out with k&n filter cleaner, then let dry. re-oil sparingly with k& n oil till its pink.

depends how dirty it is. if its pretty red and not all nasty, leave it alone.

On uni filters, I agree. I never pre oil them. on a k&n in a y boot, they need servicing maybe every 5 years or so? but i dont live in a dusty environment.
