Love Evaporust. Stuff just works so good.
These shocks off a LT3 were pretty dang rusty. So I dumped the bodies in a bucket of EVAPORUST at left them in overnight.
They came out perfect.
But when I was in Lowes I saw this stuff called Goof Off Rustaid.
$11 bucks for a jug. I threw the springs in there for a night too.
The stuff did remove all of the rust but it did leave a grey film that a few minutes of scubbing in my parts washer cleaned off. I think it is not safe on paint, decals or rubber though.
Not as caustic as muratic but definitely more than Evaporust.
End results speak for themselves.
Here's a fender I've been soaking in Evaporust
This after a night.
I love that the paint and decals were not effected at all.
That's good to know. I have a jug of it, but I'd bought it for a task much too tall for Evaporust. On of the pistons was rusted to the bore on my 260z and it didn't do anything. To be fair, I had to use a hammer, a normal hammer, to get the thing out. I'll have to give it a go on some surface rust.
ive used it in the ultrasonic for hardware as well. it works great.
i always say parts are expensive but hard work is cheap but it really pays off. now you have an awesome set of factory shocks.
