Inspired by another thread, I started thinking about cable actuated rear brake with rearsets on my RD350, using a pedal like older TD/TR racers. This would give a much lighter and simpler brake setup IMHO.
I wonder if a cable setup would require an additional return spring on the brake arm, to ensure it returns?
Venhill in the UK have cables, and the pedal is easy to make.
Go! GO!! GOOOO!!!
Anything is better than the garbage linkage setup when using rearsets.
We just put a beautiful set of Tarrozzi rearsets on the KTR bike and it truly sucks to have to use the clunky heavy old linkage.
The cable setup on my KH400 is way better.
ive done it. it doesnt require a spring. cable is so much better.
I will TRY to post some pics of my slipstream cable and how they designed it.
Can you use a cable set up even with the stock foot pegs? I've been having some problems with my rear brake sticking with the stock linkage. Basically I tried to get that brake pedal/leverage adjusted so with the lightest foot pressure I was putting on the brakes with very minimal travel of the brake pedal. However what I found was the spring that connects the backside of the pedal to the linkage doesn't seem to have enough tension. So I had to back off on the threaded rod barrel adjuster at the drum to get more pedal travel. Seemed to solve the brake sticking but now I have more travel oh and that spring I mentioned earlier just doesn't seem like it's very useful and it's a chore to set up properly.
I was thinking of using a cable like this one, originally for a KX400.
