Title: R5 fork work
Post by: soonerbillz on June 01, 2023, 02:55:26 PM
 :confusing2:
So the front suspension on this gift R5 is pretty wiped out.  Hit the bakes and it damn near bottoms out just pushing it.
Feels like the steer stem bearings are loose or worn out.
What recommendations do you all have to upgrade the existing tubes? I intend to keep and rebuild them.

rebuild them with new seals and fresh oil, they work pretty well stock. id pull the whole front end down, service the neck bearings as well. I am one of the odd people that don't mind the stock bearings, when they are serviced well, they work just fine. the tapered ones arent nec on these old bikes and fuck up the spacing on the trees so you have to shim the headlight ears to fit, blah blah blah.  :twocents:
