Does anyone have a paint code or something from a modern vehicle close to what an early TZ 350 would have used?
It was only produced as a race bike right? I usually see them in white.
Yes, white and red. This isn't a correct restoration, figured I would see if someone had something close to original before I just pick something.
You can try asking James at nocamresto.com which white he uses?
He has done a ton of stock Yamaha paint jobs and they always turn out looking perfect.
I have a Yamaha model index with some paint codes. Scanning through there seem to be very few colors listed for any TZ other than white. W (white), WW, and CPR. No idea what CPR is. Copper? I assume that racers painted them and added sponsor colors and graphics.
I will try to attach it.yamaha-model-index-1958-2010_compress.pdf
CPR could be Chappy Red? Lol.
TZ colors are Clean White and Chappy Red.
WW 0036
CPR 00E1
The white is the same one that was used on the RD250B. It's just a solid white.
I believe there's a post here somewhere in which someone supplied a modern paint code match for the original Yamaha Chappy Red.
Here are some other options for CPR matches from my notes:
= Mazda A4A True Red (a little darker red, but close)
= Chrysler Prowler Red PRD, VRD (PPG 74848)
I have always used Tremclad white and Tremclad red for the meatball. I have an original TZ and those colours are pretty close
Thanks for the replies. Anyone know how wide the stripe on the tank/tail is? I think I remember reading 10cm at some point but I am not positive.
It's chappy red for sure. Which year/model are you looking to paint or copy?
