Title: Rd 400 34mm carb upgrade
Post by: 2strokesforever on February 13, 2019, 11:15:02 AM
A few months before the old site went down there was a thread about jetting an RD 400 with 34mm round slides.

Anybody gave it saved?

I thought I did as I'm putting 34s on my 77 rd 400, but I can't find it in my files.

Just wondering what needle and needle jet was preferred?

Depends on elevation? Here is what I have in my 34's on my '77 RD. I just posted a question about my carb issues today.
6DH3 needle on 3rd clip down
159 P-8 needle jet
270 main
45 pilot
2.5 slide cut out
1 1/8 out on air screw

I live at near '6900 but will be riding bike from around '4500 to maybe '10000 feet above sea level when hitting mountain passes.

Oh, I'm not going after pilot/main jet sizes I know that varies.
Looking for the needle / needle jet used most commonly.
