I was an owner and member a while back. I sold my R5 for a Ducati 899 back in '17 and miss it dearly.
I am now searching for a project R5 or RD, preferably an RD this time. If anyone knows of a good project bike in the midwest, hopefully in the surrounding states of Missouri, please let me know. It's great seeing that John@economy and Chuck are still around. They were always helpful and I gladly gave them my money lol.
Anyway, maybe some of you remember me as I was pretty active on the forum and had BOTM in Oct. '16 and still see names I recognize.
Maybe pictures will jog some memories of my old R5
Day I bought it.

I've also found my passion for cars again and have been building a C6 Vette. It currently has a fully built iron block LS2 fully forged with a D1x Procharger and meth injection putting down right at 900whp. Backed up with an RPM built driveline.

nice. yup, i remember for sure. pretty bike
I remember the username and the bike. Welcome back
That's a pretty stout C6! Nice work.
Thanks for the welcome back gents. I certainly remember both of you.
I've located another 72 R5 locally. I low balled since I really have my eye out for an RD but if I get it cheap enough I'll do another R5.
Also forgot to mention I'm in the middle of rebuilding a 76 CB200T for my son to learn on. He just turned 14 so It's a slow build.
Has the RD world gone mad in the time I was gone?
I'm looking at a couple on CL and I don't feel that either of these are worth the money they are asking.
IMO, this one is definitely overpriced

This one has pipes at least but still asking a little more than I think.

Nice, congrats  Looks like you've already got a good start with the mods on that one. Especially the cool old-school 'Franken-bolt' Spec-II pipes

For sure. It's been sitting a while so first thing is to clean the tank, ultrasonic clean the carbs, change the plugs. add some premix and see if she'll fire. I'll also have to add a powerdynamo ignition. I had one on my R5 and loved everything about it. It's 2023, I'm not messing with points lol.
Over the winter I'll tear it all apart and give everything a fresh coat of paint. I've also gotten into powdercoating recently so I'll be able to use my DIY home setup for that.
I am really looking forward to this build and hanging onto this bike for a long time.
very nice. i think i saw that for sale on FB. def a good start. :toot: :vroom:
Congratulations on the purchase!

If it's been sitting a long time would be better to replace engine seals before starting.
