Earlier this year I purchased a set of JL pipes from John at Economy for my 75 RD, I thought I would post a side by side pic of these for comparison. The state of tune the RD being Supertune porting, mikuni TM32 heads machined by Supertune the JL feel a little crisper right off idle , however clutch started slipping and was really unable to get a real comparison of upper end pull. I will try the spec2 pipes on my R5 with 400 engine I am building now. I have replaced clutch and springs , now I am waiting for my Belray gear saver oil to show up, then another comparison run will be made.
What do you think of the TM32's compared to other carbs?
Perhaps try rotating in heavy Barnett springs, first three then six if needed?
ive done this exact from specII f1s to j&ls, i like the j&ls better as well for rideability, top end power seems the same. (f1s are now ont he lightweight). midrange is really good w them.
Im also running tm32s, took off the vm34s and its just better everywhere except for over rev, which, i dont need that anyway.
i just run 4 stroke castol MC oil in the transmission with FZ600 frictions and 15% stronger springs.
is there a specific year for fz600 plates? I never had stock carbs on this combo, so I have no comparison with them..
1st gen. (86-87-88 etc) even the shitty cheap ebay ones are plenty good. bigger surface area. these are the ones i run.

id suggest da sanding or media blasting the steels somewhat as well.

Yamaha part #
4H7-16321-02-00. This part number is called out for many models including the FZR1000, YZ250, FZ6, XS400, Seca II, Raptor, Warrior, etc.
The upgraded clutch part details for the RD can be found in the Tech Library.
Thanks for the info y'all. I had a new set on hand I just did not have a part number for them. I installed Barnett springs and I must say clutch does not slip, and even with the longer swing arm there is no issue with it putting the front wheel in the air.

If you find that the Barnett springs make for too much lever effort you can always switch out some of the springs as AAAltered mentioned previously. You can replace every other spring with an OEM one, so you end up with 3 of each in an alternating pattern.
I had not thought of approaching it that way, good to know. Thanks. There is an increased effort in lever pressure, if it gets too much that will be the next thing I do.
