How does the HPI compare to the Vape system?
I currently run both. the hpi is lighter and comes with a curve, and is cheaper but charging is less robust. but it works really well overall.
the vape is really good, static curve, really well built as well but has a LOT of charging capacity.
i run the hpi on my lightweight RD and the vape on 4 other bikes, 2 of which have programmable curve boxes (zeeltronic). (one being a t500).
IMHO, the HPI is easier to install and the rotor weight is MUCH lighter than the vape, and you can feel it, it spins up FAST.
:twocents:
I was just out on my 400, in the cool weather, with the HPI and it runs so smooth. It never skips a beat. With the LED headlight and taillights I never have to charge the battery either.
hell, i run mine w no battery and its fine. i idle mine up around 12-1400 rpm to keep them from flickering at idle but thats it. if/when i build another rd motor i'll def go with an HPI.
Thanks for the word! I just bought one!!
I just weighed these the other day HPI compared to stock. 2 lb difference
Damn you people, making me spend money. I just bought the HPI too. For the $$$ it's a no brainer. When I'm done with my RD it will be pretty stripped down and only running LED headlight and tail light so the charging isn't much of an issue for me. Anything else I'm going to need with it?
voltage regulator and i would recommend floating the ground (if you aren't going to run a battery). i run a trailtech 2 wire regulator.
Thanks Mark.
Side note - What an odd website lol
You do notice the extra power in the mid range (4000-6000) when the timing advances too.
