I have the chance to get a T500 two stroke, my question is parts for crank repair and other issues, I understand the tend to crack heads, which this one has. I do not know price yet, so I am looking for some advice from the wise sages here.
OEM crank bearing I believe are NLA but you can use CrusinImage or fit different bearings into an adapter sleeve. heads can be welded and machined to a nice new squish shape which would be more efficient as well as fixing the cracks. Or fit inserts (domes) into the stock head shell.
somebody in europe was reproducing them i think, or the adapters.
there are billet heads available, as well. i love my t500. the bigger issue is 5th gear, 72 and back had an issue, but 73 and up are fine. mines a 72 and 5th gear is noisy, always has been and eventually i'll have to change it im sure. NOVA in the uk makes replacements.
Thanks guys, just what I needed was sound advice, Thanks again I am going to check on it .
When in doubt Buy it!
I have been told I have a problem with that :vroom:
Only a problem if you tell 'erindoors.

Later bikes had the oil dam below the kickstart shaft raised which was meant to keep more oil inside the gearbox, oil capacity was increased 200ml. From memory Clauss studios do a copy of the rubber insert that was available at the time but if you have the gearbox apart it's better to weld a piece in

yup, and that's exactly what i did with mine a few yrs ago.(made and welded one in) but the damage was done prior.
