Title: Decal Removal
Post by: Milan on January 23, 2024, 12:24:17 PM
I have a fairing in which the decals are scraped up.
I have replacements to put on.

Does anyone have experience removing the old decals.
Does not appear they are clear-coated over.

Or just the normal finger nail & pull stuff.
Do they come off easily?

I found out that citrus oil (in this case ski wax remover) worked a treat on XJ/FJ fairing graphics. WD40 did not work on that glue. Possible due to it being 35 years old.....

OK,

I have an old part with a sticker.

I will try the heat gun on low
Then some goo gone & / or WD 40.

Glad to see its possible.

those stickers on the tzr were well over 30 years old, they came off just fine.

As said above, low heat setting.
3m adhesive remover has worked well for me to remover sticker glue without harming the finish.
