Title: Thicker Cylinder Gaskets for AC RD350
Post by: Pravin on March 06, 2024, 07:32:57 AM
I am trying to run Tavian Barrels which are Indian HT Spec , exhaust at 31mm , with USA Heads and we are thinking the compression when engine is on is too much to handle for the Points ignition.

I am not able to get hands on a HT Indian spec HT heads which has around 1.5mm squish compared to USA spec heads ..

Have anybody tried thicker head gaskets? like 2 mm thick ?

Cheers,
Pravin

you want to aim for a squish of around .9~1.0 mm. (yes even on points) I'm assuming the piston is protruding out of the head ~0.5mm. why not just run a thicker or double base gasket? Have you assemble dit and and actually checked it at 4 points? (the solder x-ed across the dome?). if not.. do that 1st.

Hi SC ,

I have assembled it , will have to check the solder test,

I even CNC cut the 1.5mm Copper head gasket but that worsen the performance ,bike is bogging and over heating as well , though it gave me 100 PST compared to 115 with USA heads with 1mm gasket.

I am going to look for and install Indian spec HT heads as I believe the combustion chamber or Dome is also different with USA, HT and LT heads ..

Cheers,
