"Victa model 500 twin cylinder lawnmower. Introduced in 1975 and only made for a brief period, the opposed twin cylinder engine displaced a modest 170cc. The engine was fueled by Victa's own design 'G4' carburetor. The round discs on the top side of each cylinder barrel are an automatic compression release, used to ease starting effort.
For those unaware, Victa is an Australian manufacturer, and has been in business since all the way back in 1952. Unfortunately, these machines were never (to my knowledge, anyways) sold in the USA. I've spent most of my life in the outdoor power equipment industry and have never seen one in person here in the States.
Wonderful example of Australian engineering in my opinion!"FB_IMG_1713480123867.jpg
A 2T boxer mower. That's cool! :bacon:
I like it!
Ooh, my neighbors would love me even more(or less) than they do now!
need a flat six version for a bike. 'Yardwing' or 3 stacked. thats very cool. :science:
Propane fueled?
Nope
whats with all the plumbing?
no wonder they did not last
i am surprised it went to market, but it is cool
What a rare find! I've read of those before as I have a small collection of 2 cycle self propelled mowers. Have scaled back to 4 at present: 2 Lawn Boy Gold Series- 10525 & 10515, Toro Proline Commercial(Suzuki powered), and a Snapper Wisconsin Robin. Had 10 at one time and yes, I use them to cut my lawn! How much was this rare mower?
Love that!
If it's like the Cushman engines back in the '70s, both cylinders share the same crankcase and fire at the same time.
Kinda reminds me of a Maytag. Here's mine as found, I had it running great the same day I got it home.
My Dad has a stack of these twin cyl Maytags. Would be fun to siames a few together to make a B6 or B8.
