It is with deep sorrow and sadness I must inform you that my great friend Julian Farnam, a.k.a., Frame Maker, passed away very unexpectedly last Thursday, May 16, 2024. He was a great human being and touched the motorcycles and lives of many people. A racer, unbelievable genius fabricator, and creator of some of the most exotic and special one-off motorcycles you have ever seen.
Thank you for honoring me with your friendship.
RIP Julian

oh no. man that is sad news indeed
RIP Mr. Farnam. You have my deepest respect and admiration.
This is terrible news and I am saddened.
Damn that is so sad. We grieve with you.
Wow, this is terrible and very sad news. Ken, I am deeply sorry for the loss of your friend. He was an amazing guy. My condolences to his friends and family.
This just blows my mind.
Riding dirtbikes has always seemed so safe compared to street riding.
Although we never met, Julian seemed like such a nice and incredibly talented soul.
Each day we have here on Earth together is a blessing not to be taken for granted.
Very sorry to hear that.
I had first seen the bikes he was building on the customfighters forum many years ago, and seriously impressed then by the bikes he was thinking up. Hopefully he wasn't suffering long.
Last Summer, Julian and a small group of us Yamaha 2-stroke bikes had a great ride up and down one of the local mountain roads. Afterwards we all mustered at his house, where he pulled out some of his masterpiece motorcycles in a show-and-tell of sorts. All his creations had a story to tell. A couple of months ago, he invited me to his shop to show me where all the magic happens. Such a brilliant mind! And he was so open and sharing. One of the nicest guys I've ever met. I'm going to miss him. RIP Julian.
That was this ride. The Frame Maker show and tell begins at about 8 minutes.
Perfect! Thanks for bringing up that video, Ken.
Sad news, RIP

Sorry to hear this news.
Julian was an awesome guy and helped me on a few projects over the years.
I met Julian YEARS ago when I lived in San Jose, early 90's I think. he came over and helped me sort something electrical? on the RD.
Then.....I went over to his house in Livermore. F*ck me Freddy. This guy was like the american equivalent to John Britten. I think at the time he was w/ A.N.D.? He showed me a rubber like protector he was making for diving guages and that big friggin mill metal hulk thing he had in the garage and a zillion bikes out back. I think he even made his own rims. Talk about blown away. I think he was also doing a frame for an RD500. His EX500 race frames were bitchin' too.
Right next to Mines road..
I was like please let me get 6 winning numbas, i'll have the baddest RD in ALL the land.
What a great talent. It was a privilege to have met him.
Rest in peace framemaker.
