Title: Cicada's
Post by: STLMike on May 26, 2024, 12:05:25 AM
Just got back from a trip from St. Louis to Louisville. The front end and windshield of my brand new vehicle is a disaster. These little bastards are out in swarms. I was sitting in construction traffic on I-64 and there were thousands dead on the ground, they were swarming cars. There were 3 of them that really seemed to like my wife as they were staring at her through the passenger window. Also, they are extremely loud right now in my area. Then, I got home and the kids decided to go swimming, well dozens dead in the bottom of the pool.

My Sister and brother in law (Harley people) just completed a ride from St. Louis to Camp Lejune (NC) to see my neice. They said never again, it was dangerous.

Be grateful they only emerge every 17 years or whatever it is in your area. The ones in Africa are out every year and are the loudest insects in the world.1b2d997925b2ab79190275e7147e1ac745006ab8ebd93af38af5007c04c66cac_1.jpg

Just a heads up
Be careful in the evenings while the cicadas are emerging.
Copperheads love the cicada larvae and will be very active in that time.  They will be around trees waiting for a quick snack and will be numerous.
