Title: shifter bushing: side cover repair

was noticing the shifter was a bit wiggly in the rd, so took cover off, re-centered hole (not hard, just file the opposite side of the wear of it oblong w the 'oval' centered where the hole needs to be), and drilled it down with a 5/8" drill bit, and pressed in a 12x16mm bushing. much more positive shift, and sures the 'leaking seal' issue on the shift shaft. this is the correct repair to stop this since as the cover wears, it becomes a single shear support causing sloppier shits & seal leak. I prefer this vs the extended seal repair kit (unless the shaft itself is worn beyond use)

I have some "composite" bushings/ bearings I plan on installing in the RF350 and XS650 engine covers. The split type teflon or graphite lined bushings.

yeah, i mean anything is better than the aluminum case at this point.

I'll be honest, i was -going- to put in a needle bearing, the YL1 writspin bearing is the exact ID & width you need, but i would have had to weld up the inside of the cover, bore it, put in a steel sleeve (16mm i think) to fit the needle bearing. I -might- still do that on a spare cover ( i have loads of them).
