Last Friday we did a group ride to the Cruise at the Beach Classic Car & Bike Show that takes place weekly during the summer at King Harbor in Redondo Beach. We travelled PCH (Hwy 1) through El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach.
I had the privilege and pleasure of riding a few of so-cal-sdr200's beautiful bikes to and from the show. I rode his '73 RD250 on the way down there and the super fun '87 SDR200 on the way back. A huge thanks to him for allowing me to ride a few of his prized Yamahas!

This giant bug shows up at a few the shows we've gone to. Look at how small it makes the Porsche appear.

Is that the original Captain Kidd's? I thought it was lost when the pier caught fire decades back. My brother worked there around 1979. We lived in Hermosa and attended RUHS for two years.
Looks like a great time. Thanks for sharing the photos!!!
Any details performance wise on that early Mazda with the large single turbo? Engine sure looks "the business".

I believe it is the original Captain Kid's. The pier fire burned a bunch of
restaurants about a 1/4 mile south of there. Down near the old Tony's.
Thanks Russ for the kind words and pictures on the Yammies.

You mean the white Toyota? Sorry no details other than it's an early 70s Corolla S5.
Oh yeah.. Toyota. :omg: Had me fooled as it looks like an early Mazda!
Russ and So-Cal-SDR200,
I sent the picture to my brother, he says yes that's the same place where he worked in the late 70's. Cool that it's still around, just like our old bikes.

Dang!! :omg: I just stayed at that Sonesta hotel 2 days ago!!! Cant believe I missed that by just a week. I ate the Cantina Mexican restaurant at the pier. Absolutely love that area.

Jeff (so-cal-sdr200) and I ate at the Cantina yesterday! Great food and nice views of the harbor.
Next time you're in the area let us know!

staying at Redondo brings back a lot of good memories!! I was based at El Toro in the late 70s and early 80s. I wore those streets out on my brand-new Kawasaki gpz1100. Racked up a few thousand miles in a short time. At 63 i still wear the streets out on one of my numerous bikes, (my fave) rz350 :love eyes: :love eyes: I'm in that area often since most of my flights start in LAX.
